We left Navarre and made our way into the very beautiful, green Euskadi (Basque) to spend a couple of nights and to catch up with family, Paquita and Lou who are visiting Spain.
We stayed at a lovely Casa Rural, Agroturismo Basitegi, not far from San Sebastian, which had a swimming pool so that was a bonus and we managed to cool down as still quite warm even up North.

The next day we picked up Paquita and Lou from San Sebasitan and went to “surfing central”, the small town of Zarautz. With the number of people here surfing you would think you were in Bondi or Torquay. Lots of surf schools as well. Bit of a grey day but still beautiful.

It’s a beautiful long beach with a promenade and it was very busy. We walked along the promenade and then decided on a little bar that was offering menu del dia for €15. Menu del dia is such great value in Spain – usually 3 courses, bread and vino, cerveza or aqua, but we have found they are usually just too much and so rarely order. But the waiter assured us they were not big serves so we went ahead. Great meal and drinks enjoyed by all. It was great to catch up with family from home.
