Castellon – getting ready for Christmas.

Castellon may only be a small Valencian city but it still had lots of events leading up to Christmas. The lights went up and there was always something going on somewhere.

We visited a couple of the ferias. One that celebrated the ruta sabor Castellon (the route taste of Castellon) with a weekend market celebrating local producers of artisan products – wine, olive oil, chocolate, honey etc. Tasted the vermouth from one of the stalls (of course) and found some amazing hand-made chocolate. Another was the Medieval Feria with craft and food stalls and lots of music but very crowded so we did not linger. Lots of cases of flu, gastro and Covid going around so we are a little careful with where we go.

We headed off to Villajoyosa to celebrate Christmas and stayed there for a week. On our return, New Year’s Eve was very quiet as Salvador was not well, so we just went for a wander around the streets.

One of the many street parties we came across.
Apartment foyers were taken over to set up the bar and food.
