We arrived on the 19th of December to give us time to do a couple of day trips and also relax and explore the beautiful coastal town of Villajoyosa.

The town is known for its colourful houses in the old town near the beach. We loved it and would definitely consider returning. It is connected by light rail to the north up to Altea, Denia and Valencia and to the South to Alicante so it was a perfect base to explore the area.

The town has a lovely long promenade that runs along the beach, those brightly coloured houses it is known for, and the Muralles de la Vila Joiosa – walls that were part of the defensive complex of the city dating back to the 16th century and that surround the old town.
