Christmas celebrations in Villajoyosa.

Our apartment overlooked a pedestrian-only street and we were joined on Saturday evening by a roving band and their followers as they celebrated Christmas.

It seemed like the band would play in front of a bar where everyone would then get drinks and have a dance for around 30 minutes and then move on to the next bar.

Although, we spotted one guy with a supermarket trolley full of bottles of booze so he was headed for a good time!

The band started down on the corner bar and then made their way towards us.

There was a bar right next door to our apartment so we were fortunate to witness the locals celebrating Christmas Spanish style. It was wonderful!

We enjoyed their company for a while before they headed off down the street to the next bar.

Our Christmas lunch…

Lunch at a great beachside restaurant where we also had arroz for the first time since arriving in Spain. In the Valencian Community, they are VERY particular about how you name or refer to paella. It is only ever given the name of paella if it is the traditional Valencian paella otherwise it is always referred to as Arroz.

So we had arroz (yes very different to what we make) and some very yummy tapas.

We then wandered back in the afternoon sun.
