Our son Luis arrived on the 18th of March and spent a couple of weeks with us arranging ID and bank accounts etc. before he heads off to explore.
He was just in time to join us at the International Language Exchange meet-up here in Castellon.
They are held every month but this is the first time we have been home to attend. This is the end of the night and most people have gone home. Luis managed to plan some days out with people he met here so that was good.
One of the days he was with us we returned to Chulilla. There were some good walks there so he managed to complete one of the smaller ones to the Charco Azul (the weir that the Arabs created in the 12th century to water the orchards).
Translates to – Home Bar of the retired. It’s like a social club for retirees but I think Home bar of the retired sounds better.
We also spent Easter weekend with Salvador’s uncle in Lleida again. Luis hoped to attend the Good Friday procession but unfortunately, it was cancelled due to rain.
We spent one of those days exploring the mountain region just outside of Lleida and even though it was a cloudy grey day it was still good to see a bit more of Catalunya. On a sunny day, it would be quite spectacular.
Again all of the extended family got together at the farm for La Mona de Pascua and this year they fired up the BBQ to cook an amazing seafood paella.
At one stage 6 people were supervising.
On Friday we have more visitors arriving when my sister Sandra and her friend Susie will be visiting Spain for 4 weeks. It will be great to see them.

Wow, sounds like you guys had a wonderful Easter. I’m so pleased that Luis managed to find his way back to Spain. Don’t tell me that Luis ate that huge roll!!! I really hope he has a wonderful time overseas. Just curious, what sort of cake is La Mona, I haven’t heard of it. I’m really enjoying your blogs. Take care guys 🙂

Thanks yes it’s been wonderful to see him and spend some time. He is off now exploring. La Mona is layered sponge cake with creme icing stuff? always has some sort of candied fruit and the topping is some sort of mixed egg yolks with something I cannot remember now what it was. Very nice but very very sweet. Happy someone is reading our blog !
