We had one day in Castellon de la Plana to wander around and then take Sandy and Susie to one of our favourite restaurants for Menú del día. There was even a small parade happening in our street. It was to commemorate all lay volunteers in the churchwho assist the unfortunate.

Our plan for the next day was to drive to Valencia, visit the small town of Manises renowned for its ceramics on the way and then drive down through Parc Natural de l’Albufera before a traditional paella lunch. We would then part ways after dropping Sandy and Susie at their hotel.
Unfortunately on Sunday evening Salvador tripped and fell on his shoulder so we spent the evening in urgencia at the hospital. He had dislocated his shoulder which meant we could not drive to Valencia the next day.

We decided to catch the train to Valencia and we went to lunch at Restaurante La Genuina which is in a barraca an original farm home from this region. There are not many of these homes are left in Valencia but a few have been preserved.

The restaurant was on the outskirts of Valencia just before the start of Parc Natural de l’Albufera. We had an amazing Paella de Marisc (which we ordered the day before).

We said goodbye to Sandy and Susie and would see them again in Mallorca in 4 weeks.
Hi Dawn and Salvador Love all the photos, very envious. Sorry to hear about the fall itâs just old fart stuff had one in the garden a while ago still got a painful shoulder, the funny part is I am getting steroids with my chemo and itâs healing my shoulder. We are planning to go to Europe in March next year, providing I am better, for an as yet length of time. Your posts are great giving us lots of ideas. I had thought of going to Peniscola as I am a game of thrones fan and they filmed quite a bit there. Look after yourself hope you heal well Salvador. Regards Maria, Roy and Josh

Thanks Roy. Yes Salvadors shoulder is much better now but might go to a couple of physio sessions. Hope you are going well and your results have been good? Be great if you can make it to Europe next year we are really happy we made the decision to come and stay here when we did. We are leaving Spain in July and driving to Poland for a month 2 weeks in Gdansk and 2 near Krakow, then down to Albania for 2 months 1 up north and 1 in the south and then Sarajevo, Bosnia for 1 month before we will drive back to Spain spending some time in Croatia and France. We will then have a week or so to sell the car, sort our stuff out and say goodby to family. Then we fly to Istanbul where we will spend 5 weeks before we fly home on 20 January. Love to you all
