At the end of April, we reunited with Sandy and Susie in Mallorca where we would spend 5 days exploring this beautiful island. Even though we only had grey skies and showers we still loved it and would return for a longer stay.
We stayed in a lovely Spanish home in a small village in the north of the island away from those pesky tourists.

We explored the island’s northern section and drove through some amazing scenery on our way to the beautiful village of Fornalutx for lunch.

We drove out to Port de Sóller but itwas busy and hard to find a car park so just a short visit.

We were also fascinated with the windmills we saw dotted throughout many of the fields wherever we went. We discovered that they date largely from the 16th to the 19th centuries, and these water and flour mills were used by Mallorcan farmers, harnessing the wind to grind grain and pump water. There are around 3000 windmills on the island and there is even a ´Friends of the Majorcan Windmills ´who are passionate about restoring and maintaining these cultural and heritage structures.

We visited some of the beach towns located on the coast of the northeast of the island – Can Picafort, Port d’Alcúdia and Cala Sant Vicenç.

On our last day with Sandy and Susie, we explored the Platja de Formentor area and drove to the Capdepera Lighthouse. The scenery was amazing even with the grey skies. Stopped for lunch in Pollença.
