On the way to replenish our vermut supplies from the Cooperativa agricola in Casinos, we stopped in Manises to wander around and check out some of the buildings and parks that are famous for the ceramics. Valencia region is a large producer of ceramics and tiles and there are quite a few villages where they showcase this. Manises is on the metro line from Valencia.

Villarreal is a small town on the outskirts of Castellon de la Plana where we lived. It’s mainly known for its football team which is in the premier league in Spain, which is a big deal here.

We wandered around and had lunch and I discovered a taberna named after me. My name in Espanol is Alba. You do not see this name very often.

On our way back to the car we went past the Catholic church, Iglesia de San Jaime. What caught our eye with this church was it had huge doors and gates that were very high. Hence using Salvador as my model to demonstrate this!

We took the tram to visit El Grao de Castellón, (Port of Castellon). It has a long stretch of beach that runs all the way to Benicassim.

Our one visit before we left, was to try one more Valencian paella in a restaurant in El Grao that we had been told was good. It did not disappoint.
