We spent one of our days with Luis travelling north up the coast to the Llogora Pass. Luis had met up with someone from his travels in Sarandë, so Tegan joined as well. It was raining when we left but the forecast reported the rain would pass. We hoped by the time we arrived at the restaurant where we planned on having lunch before returning that there would be sunshine and clear skies.

the meat is cooked.
We had lunch at a traditional Albanian restaurant. Typical of these restaurants there was a small hut at the back where the wood fires and rotisserie are kept for roasting the lamb and goats. We have seen this now quite a few times. After lunch, we were happy to see the sunshine and we made our way back down the coast to Sarandë.

however, the rain meant we ate inside
instead of on the lovely terrace.

These are everywhere you travel selling homemade raki, olive oil, honey and lots of dried wild herbs.
The drive is spectacular as it hugs the coastline through small villages overlooking beautiful beaches and surrounded by mountains.

with the obligatory cat…

The road winds along the coast travelling through some lovely villages and beautiful scenery.

We stopped just before heading back into Sarandë to watch the amazing sunset which this area is renowned for.
