Bibliotecas de Espana

Discovering the libraries of Spain.

I hope to share my love of all things library while we live here and and explore this beautiful country.

Biblioteca Pública de Pontevedra Antonio Odriozola (Pontevedra Public Library, Galicia)

Interesting building named after Antonio Odriozola, in honour of his work as a bibliographer and researcher in the library’s collections.

There was an impressive young adult section which had many recognisable titles and authors and of course a wonderful graphic novel and manga section. The featured display near the entry was “Bibli teca feminista.”

Biblioteca Pública Municipal Rosalía de Castro (Vilagarcia de arousa Public Library, Galicia)

Located in beautiful building in the centre of town, we sheltered in the library in Vilagarcia on our first visit as it was very, very cold and it had toilets! The children’s section was located on the ground floor. The rest of the library collection was upstairs and was very small. We have since found out there is another building that the Concello (local council) are renovating for the biblioteca so we think they might be housed here temporarily while they wait for their building to be ready.
